the rules
thinking about joining truth in cliché? well, we hope that you do! i will try to keep the rules as brief and as simple as possible because i know we all hate reading them. what admin says goes, however we do try to be as flexible as we can.
getting started
• your username can be whatever you'd like it to be, however please make your display name your characters first middle last, all in lowercase letters.
• when applying, please make sure to pick the correct app. there is one for students and one for teachers. obviously everything needs to be filled out in order for it to be accepted.
• when posting your app, please make sure the subject line reads last name, first middle (last name should be capitalized, first and middle lowercase).
• if you are posting an unfinished app, please remember to put wip in the subject line. remove the wip when you are finished. you have seven days to complete a wip before it is moved to the archives.
• be original with your characters, but not so over the top they are unbelievable. also, no one's perfect, so let's not make them that way.
• all students must be between the ages of 14 and 19. all teachers must be 24+
• there is no character limit, but you must keep them active. please try to balance the female to male ratio. i understand that some people play one gender better, but if we have an overflow of one gender, there may be a ban until the other catches up.
• if you are a current member and make another character, all of your characters must be active.
• activity is defined as at least one post per character every two weeks (meaning a total of 2 posts a month, or more of course)
• a post is defined as an actual thread, not anything that falls under social media or games.
• admin has the right to refuse any character! that also means we have the right to pend characters and ask for more detail, changes, etc.
• do not pm admin or post in cbox that your app is finished. we check the board daily, so you will never have to wait more than 24 hours to be accepted.

• certain celebrities have asked that we not use their faces and we must respect that. the following are not allowed to be used.

• there is only one member group that is considered cannon and that is the elites. there are only so many of them and are the sought after characters.
• you may only play one cannon character! bottom line, we want everyone to have a chance.
• for the most part, cannon's are up to you. we have listed some personality traits we want in each cannon, but their face and everything else is up to you.
• these characters must be active! this means you must post them at least once a week.
TEACHERS[/b]
• they can teach one subject, so please check the teacher claim board to see what's open.
• they are responsible for the safety and such of the students but that doesn't mean they are perfect. sometimes they make bad decisions, but keep in mind there are consequences for those actions. (i.e. have a relationship with a student, there could be an investigation and the possibility of being fired). we will not make those moves without your approval of the plot, however keep in mind that we will not allow a free for all without 'consequences' for the adult.

roleplaying
• we are an intermediate site. with that said, we do except newbies. after all, we all had to start somewhere.
• there is a 200 word minimum word count. that's not that hard to do, it's really just two paragraphs. this is not a quickfire site, so give the posts some substance.
• for the love of all that is holy, please use proper grammar. do not use chat speak in your posts!!! i do not want to see yolo or lol in your post! obviously if your character is speaking they may use slang, but the thoughts behind the post should be literate and proper. spell check is your friend.
• respect, have it! bottom line is this, i'm big on respect. treat others the way you wish to be treated. if you have a problem with another member and can't get over it, contact an admin and we can moderate for you. disrespect and harassment will not be tolerated and will result in a permanent ban from the site.
• no godmodding, using force, controlling, etc of someone else's character. sure there are times when you have to use a little power play, but please check with the member first to make sure it's okay.
• in a group thread, wait your turn! we all learned how to stand in line in kindergarten and they say patience is a virtue. i understand we get excited to move a plot along, but seriously, wait your turn to post.
• stealing of any kind will not be tolerated. if we find out you've stolen content from the site, whether it's graphics, a character, a character name or likeness, it will be reviewed by all site staff and the consequences severe. under most circumstances, unless you can prove otherwise, you will be permanently banned from the truth in cliche.

• avatar max sizing is 175px by 250px. signature max sizing is 500px by 600px. do not stretch my board. max sizing for templates is 500px wide. the height is your choice.
• if you are not skilled in photoshop or other graphic programs, we may have a member shop open so check that out for all your graphic needs. if there is no shop open on site, places like caution have them.
• as per TOS, no nudity or faces under the age of 13 are allowed in your graphics.

• do not use cbox as your venting forum. we all have personal issues we deal with, but spilling them into a public forum for guests to see is too much. sure talk about your day, but i don't want to see the sob story about how your best friend stole your significant other who ran away with your dog and kidnapped your grandmother. please, call maury for that.
• that also included the ooc board. putting all your business on jump street for the site to see is 'extra'. so, posts in ooc should not be about venting your life story, nor should it be a forum to vent about something that might frustrate you about a member, admin or the site itself. have an issue? take it up with admin. i promise, we're friendly enough.
• posting a hiatus. obviously life is hectic and real whereas rping is not. we totally understand that things happen and sometimes you need a break. please post a hiatus as soon as you can. let us know about how long you will be gone, if it's a full hiatus (meaning no posting) or a partial (meaning you can post but they will be slow). any hiatus longer than seven days will be reviewed by admin and will be decided on a case by case basis if your characters, especially cannons, need to be deleted.
• with that said, we have the right to conduct random activity checks. any character not logged into or posted for 2 weeks are at risk for deletion without warning.

this is a social forum! it is real time, which means it updates automatically. use it or i will take away the real time and you will have to refresh it to see if someone responded. do not use it as a venting forum about your life or to bash my site. this goes for members and guests. also, do not use the cbox as a place to promote your own site, a site you are a staff on or a site you play on that's good, fun, active, etc. there is a board for member sites for you to advertise and i am willing to consider sister sites. do not promote your want ad or your plotter/shipper. unless a guest/member has asked you about your want ad or current characters, do not push it on someone in cbox. have respect in my cbox for each other and guests. we might not all agree on things, but we can agree to disagree. no fighting! can't resolve an issue, talk to an admin, but keep it out of cbox. if a guest is bashing the site, a character, you, whatever, ignore them!!!!!![/u] consequences to violating these rules is a five day ban from cbox. second offense, permanent ban.
