fears & secrets
Megan is afraid of being left by someone who she finally gives her heart to. After her high school boyfriend, she has been skeptical about falling in love. She also is afraid of losing people close to her like her parents. Her biggest secret is that she sometimes crush on some of her students!
personality
In School:
To begin, Megan is still very young and youthful. With that being said, she remembers completely what life in school is like, and understands the students she teaches to her maximum capabilities. Unlike other teachers, who are typically in their thirties - or even worst, forties, she doesn't have to stretch back too far into her mind to remember how a student wants their teacher to act, and what a student likes hearing/doing in a class room.
Megan carries herself in a very professional manner while in the school and on its campus. She addresses both teachers and students alike, with their last names, attached with a Mr, Ms, or Mrs. She has a high self-esteem, and tries her best to push such an attitude among her students. She doesn't like seeing her students doubt themselves and believing that they can not do something like other believe they can. Because of this, she always tries keeping available time on her hands to help out the students that tend to need it.
In classes, Megan does not accept pat answers. Given that she teachers history, she knows that nearly all of her questions have elaborated answers and responses. She's always expecting her students to give her explanation and justification behind to support their answers. Along with that, she doesn't like or approve of false excuses - or excuses at all, for that matter. She knows that, in essence, education is the disciplining of the mind. She drills into the minds of her students that if they know the rules, they know what to expect and what is right. Having just gone through her years of college, she knows what a student is going to need now and later; this is why she attempts at building good habits out of her students.
Although a trait that is shared outside of school, this is mostly applied during school hours and on-campus. Megan is a truly reliable adult figure to her students. She's there when they need a shoulder to cry on, someone to vent to, or anything of the like. She has proven to be a very dependable person, and knows how to keep secrets. If the students choose to confide something to her, she doesn't take advantage of their vulnerability. She's sure to keep it to herself, and is always willing to take time out of her day to make space to discuss problems with students. She understands that students need a figure in their life in which they can trust and know will be there for them, and she is fully acceptable of being that person.
Outside of School:
Specifically when not on campus, Megan is optimistic and adventurous to the point where she could seem equivalent to a student still in high school. She parties and drinks, and is always looking to the bright side. She doesn't smoke enough to call herself a smoker, but she doesn't mind it every-so-often. More specifically speaking, she doesn't buy it herself, and doesn't even think of doing so. Megan loves taking chances, but not to the point of risking a lot, where she regrets it later. In short, she's somewhat of a party-animal with just some self control, outside of class.
To add onto everything else, she is truly girly. Up to the point where most of her closet, for events that do not include work, is composed of an excessive amount of pink. Pink, red and purple are perhaps her favorite colors, and she loves wearing either of those three in some fashion. Most of the time, she wears red or pink lipstick for simplicity. She's very cliche, and loves classical things. This includes movies, and especially old dating ideas. An example is a dinner and a movie. Guys who do things like this usually spark her interest. But don't get her wrong, she's always up to see a guy go above and beyond to do something to impress her.
Overall:
A trait gained from her few years of learning to be a teacher, Megan has real high expectations. Not only in school, but for herself and the people she's involved with (lovers, friends, family). She can never settle for things that aren't a person's best. She can accept something not being perfect, as long as the person put their all into it. Though this isn't to say that she doesn't accept errors. As a teacher, she encourages risk taking. With this way of thinking, however, Megan is never satisfied with what she knows. She's always open to learn new things, and experience new adventures with other people.
Both in and out of school, Megan is a very humorous person. She loves joking around with people of younger age, her age, and older age. In actuality, it's her go-to when things get a little rough and challenging. In her mind, there's a small amount of things that can't be cured with some laughter. In her class, she makes jokes and accept jokes from students - to a certain limit. An entire class period would not be wasted with jokes, but a few to lighten the mood wouldn't hurt anyone. She believes that humor is a great way to connect with students, but she also knows how to cut it and get to work.
For the majority of the time, calm and collected can be used to describe Megan. She has built a lot of self-control over the years of schooling, and exemplifies it to great standards on a regular basis. She knows how to control her volume when she speaks, and understands when and when not to say certain things; though sometimes, outside of school, she can't filter everything she says. Around students, it's as though her mind creates an automatic filter that keeps her brain at ease, enough to keep her cool around sarcastic remarks and very illogical questions. Outside of school, the filter doesn't turn off, but rather lowers in efficiency.

history
The majority of her early life was simple. Her mother was from Ireland and her father was born in Britain, given Megan a full European heritage. However, they both moved to the Americas in their early twenties to study, and coincidentally met several years later. After several different dates, and years of being together, the two married each other and had their first child. That would, of course, start the life of Megan Valerie Hathaway.
She didn't live in bad conditions. Surprisingly enough, both of her parents moved to California and found suiting jobs that paid great money. With both of their incomes added together, they were able to give their daughter great treatment and also great education. She was sent to the finest elementary and middle school Cali had to offer. Her mother was a bit of a school freak, and believed that education was one of the strongest skills a person could have. With that being her logic, she didn't want her daughter learning anything but the best.
The whole idea of becoming a teacher began in the seventh grade. Megan was always attentive of the teachers at her school, and always wondered what it would be like in their shoes. In actuality, she wasn't like most students. She actually loved school, and loved doing the work and putting in the effort. And even with the people who did feel the same, she was never one to hide and conceal it. She opened up to everyone that she was a nerd, a geek, whatever they chose to call her. But admitting it only made her stronger inside, and it only furthered her dreams of living a life where she could be in a school for most of her time.
In high school, Megan had her first crush, which ultimately became her first and most important boyfriend. Despite her being a person who loved school and the work, or in short: a nerd, he liked her and wasn't afraid to show it. At first she was a bit hesitant. Her boyfriend was one of the few jocks the school had, who just randomly asked her out one day. What was she supposed to think? But in reality, he was her anchor. She helped him throughout their years in school, and brought him from his C average to a A minus, each semester, every year. He was always there to encourage her, and he supported her and her dreams of becoming a teacher. He wasn't the smartest person alive, yet she was able to bump him to all A's every year. That was enough for him to know that she would do a great job as a teacher.
After her high school graduation, Megan and her boyfriend sadly had to part ways. She was destined to stay and learn to be a teacher. She didn't have to go to any special school to learn what he needed to. Him, on the other hand, he had to go to a school with a good football team. And although she was sad that they had to split up, like him, she supported him and his dreams of becoming a professional football player. She even hoped that one day she would be lucky enough to see him on TV. She told him that it was a privilege to have gone out with him, and they shared one final kiss before he moved to another state for college. Thus end the relationship of her first love.
When she went off to college, she decided that she would double major, despite people telling her that it would be an overload of work. They didn't understand that she loved working, that was what she was going to school for after all. Schoolwork. The most important of the two majors was history, which was her favorite subject while in school. Throughout all grades, actually. She took a few necessary courses while in college required for becoming a teacher. Around this time, she also started taking dance classes. More specifically, salsa - one of her more favored type of dance.
After gaining her bachelor's degree in her two majors, she could now officially call herself a certified teacher. But she was positive that her learning wasn't done. Because of this, she applied for a scholarship to continue schooling. This time, she was going to school to become a guidance counselor. It wasn't that she actually wanted to do that, but it was second on her list for dream jobs, so she decided why not get the education under her belt now, while still young. While going to school, she gained a job at Brentwood, as the U.S. History teacher due to her four years of classes.
